Montessori for ages 3-6
Children from three to six years are in the most important phase of their development. Montessori observed that this is the most important years of a child’s development, building the essence of the child and his/her personality. The child’s absorbent mind is that of sponge readily absorbing what his/her environment offer him/her. It is out of this raw material that the child’s self is built. As the English poet William Wordsworth wrote, “The child is the father of the manâ€.
The prepared environment of a Montessori classroom offers the child the opportunity to freely develop and meet his/her sensitive periods of learning. The prepared environment offers activities and materials that corresponds to the child’s sensitive periods of learning.
